Description

Washington homicide detective Alex Cross faces two apparently different cases with consequences reaching from a neighborhood school to the White House. A controversial senator has been murdered in his Georgetown home, leaving behind only a cryptic rhyme signed “Jack and Jill” and a warning of further attacks on prominent targets. At the same time, the brutal killing of a young girl near the elementary school attended by Cross’s son makes the investigation painfully personal. As more crimes follow, Cross must determine whether the cases are connected and anticipate a plan aimed at the capital’s wealthiest and most protected figures. The thriller balances political danger with a father’s fear for the children closest to him.
