San Francisco homicide inspector Lindsay Boxer is already struggling with depression and a life-threatening blood disorder when a newly married couple is brutally killed in their hotel room. As connected attacks on newlyweds emerge, the investigation extends from San Francisco to Cleveland and places added pressure on Lindsay’s health and judgment. She begins sharing information with three women whose professions give them different access to the case: medical examiner Claire Washburn, assistant district attorney Jill Bernhardt, and crime reporter Cindy Thomas. Together they form the Women’s Murder Club, bypassing reluctant bosses and ordinary procedures to compare evidence independently. The novel combines a serial-killer investigation with the creation of a cross-professional alliance, making trust, institutional boundaries, and Lindsay’s limited time central to the pursuit.
