Description

In the woods outside Haven, Maine, writer Bobbi Anderson uncovers the edge of a long-buried alien spacecraft and begins digging it free. Its invisible influence spreads through the town, granting residents astonishing powers of invention while leaving them without the judgment to use those powers responsibly. Bobbi’s friend Gard, an alcoholic poet partly protected by a metal plate in his head, recognizes the danger but remains in Haven to help her excavate the vessel. As Bobbi changes and the town grows increasingly violent, Gard must resist both the alien force and his own self-destructive impulses. Stephen King blends science fiction and horror in a sprawling story about technological ingenuity severed from conscience, addiction, and a community remade by collective obsession.
