Description

After nuclear war destroys America, scattered survivors cross a wasteland overrun by monstrous creatures and marauding armies. Among them is Swan, a child whose unusual importance makes her the target of the Man with the Scarlet Eye, a malevolent figure who gathers followers by awakening and feeding their darkest desires. Those determined to protect her must survive both the ruined landscape and communities rebuilding themselves around violence, fear, and domination. Their separate journeys converge into a struggle over more than physical survival: the emerging world may reproduce humanity’s worst impulses or preserve the possibility of renewal. Blending post-apocalyptic adventure with supernatural horror, the novel treats civilization’s collapse as a battle for the moral character of whatever comes next.
