Shatter Me follows Juliette, a seventeen-year-old whose touch can kill. After accidentally killing a child, she has spent 264 days confined in an asylum, recording her disturbed thoughts in an erratic, diary-like form marked by crossed-out passages. Her isolation changes when Adam Kent becomes her cellmate and the two gradually grow closer. The authoritarian Reestablishment takes control of Juliette and offers freedom if she will use her lethal ability against prisoners. As her relationship with Adam develops, he helps her escape. A soldier named Kenji then offers a route to safety and connects their flight to a rebellion opposing the Reestablishment.
