Description

Eli and Charlie Sisters make their living as killers in the 1850s American West, carrying out orders for a shadowy employer known as the Commodore. Their latest assignment sends them from Oregon City toward a gold claim near Sacramento, where they must find and murder Hermann Kermit Warm. Charlie embraces drinking and violence, while Eli increasingly wonders whether the life they share is the only one available to him. As Warm proves difficult to capture, the pursuit tests Eli’s loyalty to his brother, his employer, and his own battered conscience. Patrick deWitt recasts the Western as a darkly comic journey through a frontier underworld, where brutality and absurdity coexist and brotherly love carries its own forms of coercion.
