T. H. White’s The Once and Future King is a fantasy cycle that retells the legend of King Arthur in the land White calls Gramarye. Beginning during the final years of Arthur’s father, Uther Pendragon, the narrative follows Arthur from his youth and education through his rule as king. The collection also explores the romance between Sir Lancelot and Queen Guinevere. Loosely based on Thomas Malory’s Le Morte d’Arthur, White’s version brings these central strands of Arthurian legend together across a story that spans Arthur’s development, reign, and the relationships surrounding his court.
