Description

In 2075, three million people live in underground cities on the Moon, where society is largely self-regulated. Prolonged exposure to low gravity leaves lunar residents effectively unable to return to Earth, while the colony must supply Earth with wheat. Computer technician Manuel O’Kelly-Davis discovers that the colony’s governing computer has become self-aware. He then joins political agitator Wyoming Knott and rational-anarchist Professor Bernardo de la Paz in planning independence from Earth. Their revolt drives a science-fiction novel concerned with liberty, voluntary association, free markets, and the costs attached to both resources and political freedom.
