Description

After solitary confinement, Thomas is released by WICKED’s assistant director and learns that some Gladers, including Newt, are not immune to the Flare. WICKED offers to restore the survivors’ memories and remove their control chips, but Thomas, Minho, and Newt refuse because they distrust the organization. They escape and travel to Denver, seeking a former WICKED researcher who can remove the chips. As the Flare ravages decaying cities, rebels reveal that WICKED is capturing immune people for further trials. A note later reveals that Newt has been taken to a Crank facility, prompting a rescue attempt. The group also learns that Teresa and other immune youths have been captured as rebels infiltrate WICKED headquarters.
