Description

After the Varden’s leader is killed, the rebellion against the Empire divides its burdens among three young figures. Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, travel to the elves’ forest realm, where Oromis and Glaedr begin training them in the powers and responsibilities of Dragon Riders. Their progress is constrained by wounded mentors and by seizures caused by Eragon’s own injury. Elsewhere, Nasuada assumes wartime leadership and must negotiate with King Orrin, while Eragon’s cousin Roran rallies their home village after an attack and leads its people toward safety and the Varden. The second volume of the Inheritance Cycle expands the struggle beyond one hero, combining magical apprenticeship, forced migration, political alliance, and open war.
