Dog Man is a police officer with a human body, a dog’s head, strong crime-fighting instincts, and an unruly canine personality. Created when an injured officer and his dog are combined, he charges through a series of children’s graphic adventures in which heroic intentions collide with impulsive behavior and elaborate villainous schemes. His recurring circle includes Petey, an adversary whose efforts to change are repeatedly tested; Li’l Petey, Petey’s innocent clone; and 80-HD, a robot who joins Dog Man and Li’l Petey on a superhero team. Slapstick action and visual jokes frame warmer questions about loyalty, responsibility, chosen family, and whether anyone is beyond a second chance.
