When police dog Greg and officer Knight are gravely injured, doctors save them by combining Greg’s head with Knight’s body. The result is Dog Man, a half-dog, half-human police officer with Knight’s crime-fighting ability and Greg’s impulsive canine instincts. He can chase criminals, but he can also be derailed by smells, toys, and the urge to behave like an unruly pet. His chief opponent is the scheming cat Petey, whose plans demand more discipline than Dog Man naturally possesses. Told through energetic comics, visual jokes, deliberate misspellings, and rapid action, this opening adventure turns superhero crime fighting into childlike slapstick while celebrating persistence, loyalty, and gleefully imperfect heroism.
