Stuart Little is born into an ordinary New York family, but he is only slightly taller than a mouse and looks exactly like one. The scale of the human world turns daily life into a series of practical challenges, which Stuart meets with intelligence, nerve, and mechanical ingenuity. At home, the cat Snowbell must suppress his hunting instincts and accept Stuart as a family member. The arrival of Margalo, a half-frozen canary, gives Stuart a loyal friend to protect from that uneasy household threat. When Margalo disappears, Stuart leaves home in a miniature car to search for her. The novel joins playful domestic episodes with an open-road adventure about resourcefulness, friendship, and pursuing hope through an oversized world.
