Reports of living dinosaurs draw chaos theorist Ian Malcolm toward a mystery everyone assumed had ended with Jurassic Park. Paleontologist Richard Levine believes a hidden population could illuminate how species survive and disappear, but he travels to a suspected island alone and soon vanishes. Malcolm joins retired professor Jack Thorne and behavioral biologist Sarah Harding in a rescue expedition equipped with a mobile field laboratory. Their destination is Site B, InGen's concealed dinosaur habitat, where scientific observation quickly becomes a struggle to understand animals beyond human control. Combining dangerous exploration with debates about extinction and behavior, the novel expands the disaster of Jurassic Park into a contest between an evolving ecosystem and the people who still imagine they can master it.
