Jason Grace awakens on a school bus bound for the Grand Canyon with no memory of his life, although Piper and Leo seem to know him as their friend. A storm-spirit attack exposes the trip as part of a supernatural world, and the three teenagers are taken to Camp Half-Blood. There they learn that they are demigod children of Zeus, Aphrodite, and Hephaestus, each carrying powers and private burdens they barely understand. Their first mission is to rescue Hera, queen of the gods, while recovering Jason’s missing identity and learning to work as a team. The quest expands into a conflict with servants of Gaea who intend to overthrow the Olympians, combining modern adolescent insecurity with monsters, prophecies, and classical mythology.
