Six weeks after his previous adventure, Magnus Chase learns that Thor’s hammer is missing, leaving Midgard vulnerable to invasion by the jötnar. Recovering it requires thwarting Loki, whose plans involve Samirah’s impending wedding to the giant Thrym. The search first yields the dangerous Skofnung Sword, and wounds from it send Magnus and his friends after its healing whetstone. Magnus and Hearthstone travel to Alfheim, where Hearth’s family debt must be settled before they can obtain it. Their mission culminates in a deceptive Norse wedding plan, with Alex Fierro volunteering to pose as the bride, though retrieving the hammer also risks freeing Loki.
