Description

After District 12 falls, Katniss Everdeen lives beneath District 13, headquarters of the rebellion against the Capitol. She reluctantly agrees to become the Mockingjay, a propaganda symbol meant to unite the districts, in return for protection for captured tributes, including Peeta. But the Capitol has tortured and brainwashed him until he believes Katniss is his enemy, turning rescue into another form of danger. As rebel forces advance and Katniss enters combat in the Capitol, she sees suffering converted into strategy by both sides. Her role demands that she inspire a revolution even while questioning its leaders, forcing her to decide whether their pursuit of victory is reproducing the abuses they claim to oppose.
