Nollop is an island devoted to the supposed genius who created a famous pangram, his achievement commemorated by a monument bearing its alphabet-spanning sentence. When a letter tile falls, the ruling council declares the accident a divine command and bans residents from using that character. More tiles drop, more prohibitions follow, and violations bring punishments escalating from public humiliation to exile. Told entirely through letters and notes, the fable forces its correspondents—and its own prose—to survive with an ever-shrinking alphabet. As communication becomes both comic and perilous, the islanders seek a shorter pangram that might disprove their founder's omniscience. Language itself becomes the arena for a struggle between ingenuity, communal loyalty, and authoritarian certainty.
