Samantha is a lonely scholarship student finishing an MFA at a prestigious New England university, where her wealthy, hyperfeminine classmates call one another “Bunny.” She and her fellow outsider Ava mock the clique’s sweetness and the pretensions of their creative-writing program. Then the Bunnies invite Samantha into an exclusive workshop whose drug-fueled rituals transform their fantasies into grotesque, human-shaped beings. Despite her contempt, Samantha is drawn into the group’s language, intimacy, and strange creative practices, widening the distance between her and Ava. Bunny turns workshop competition and the hunger for belonging into surreal campus horror, using black comedy to blur artistic creation, social performance, friendship, and the violent wish to make imagination physically real.
