Eighteen years after leaving Stone Mountain, Tyler Sinclair returns as the affluent, celebrated singer of a band named for the town he escaped. He plans to perform a benefit concert for Doc, an old friend paralyzed in a childhood accident that local memory still connects to Tyler. Instead, the homecoming revives old hostility, especially with Curt, Tyler’s former best friend and the town’s police chief, and Freddi, Curt’s wife and Tyler’s former lover. When violence prevents a clean departure, Tyler becomes entangled in drugs, manslaughter, and police corruption. The resulting small-town thriller uses crime to expose buried betrayals and test whether loyalty, guilt, and artistic reinvention can ever free a person from a shared traumatic past.
