Description

Soviet submarine captain Marko Ramius secretly redirects the advanced ballistic-missile submarine Red October toward North America while Soviet forces mobilize to find and destroy it. The submarine’s nearly undetectable propulsion system could carry nuclear missiles into American waters without warning. CIA analyst Jack Ryan studies secret photographs and concludes that its unusual construction conceals a stealth drive. As American, British, and Soviet fleets join the search, tensions rise around the vessel’s course and purpose. Danger also grows aboard Red October when a suspected saboteur damages its reactor and essential safety equipment, combining geopolitical suspense with an increasingly urgent crisis at sea.
