Ralph S. Mouse can talk, ride a miniature motorcycle, and no longer tolerate the demands of his family at the Mountain View Inn. He runs away in search of freedom, only to be captured and kept as a pet at Happy Acres Camp. Separated from his motorcycle and confined to a cage, Ralph discovers that independence can create problems as quickly as it solves them. An aggressive cat, a missing watch, and suspicion surrounding a boy named Garf draw him into camp trouble. Ralph bonds with Garf and bargains to clear the boy’s name in exchange for help returning home. The adventure combines small-scale danger with questions about responsibility, friendship, and the difference between escape and freedom.
