In 1950s Brighton, schoolteacher Marion falls in love with policeman Tom Burgess, who is torn between the security of marriage to her and his love for Patrick Hazelwood. Patrick, a museum curator, introduces Tom to a sophisticated world of art, travel, and beauty, but social repression forces the two men to meet in secret. Marion’s jealousy eventually leads her to expose Patrick, causing his arrest and inflicting lasting damage on both relationships. My Policeman explores passionate love, divided loyalties, and the harm created by a society that compels intimacy to remain hidden.
