Rupi Kaur’s Milk and Honey is a collection of poetry and prose about survival, feminism, relationships, and personal experience. It is organized into four themed sections—“hurting,” “loving,” “breaking,” and “healing”—that move through violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. The opening section addresses sexual assault, abuse, and family problems, while the next turns toward more positive experiences. Throughout the collection, accessible language, sexual candor, personal trauma, and unconventional shifts in pronouns shape the poems. Kaur’s line drawings accompany some entries. Across the book, pain and heartache gradually give way to healing and the discovery of sweetness within difficult moments.
