Description

Franny and Zooey brings together a short story and a novella centered on siblings Franny and Zooey Glass. In the first part, Franny, a college student visiting her boyfriend in an unnamed college town, becomes disillusioned by the selfishness and insincerity she perceives around her and seeks spiritual escape. The longer second part shifts to the Glass family’s Upper East Side apartment. There, Zooey tries to help Franny through a spiritual and existential crisis. Together, the two narratives trace Franny’s distress and the difficult effort between siblings to understand and respond to it.
