At the head of a secret Antimemetics Division, an unnamed director confronts paranormal ideas designed to resist being shared. These anomalous antimemes erase evidence, distort perception, and prevent investigators from remembering that an enemy exists, making ordinary containment procedures nearly useless. As the Division searches for ways to record and oppose the unrecordable, its director discovers gaps in her own memory and signs of a conflict already underway. The fix-up novel builds its science-fiction horror through linked investigations, bureaucratic puzzles, and escalating failures of recognition. Its central tension is not simply whether reality can be defended, but whether anyone can understand a threat that removes itself from the minds trying to find it.
