Description

In first-century Galilee, Daniel bar Jamin’s imprisonment by Roman soldiers and his father’s death harden grief into hatred of Rome. Orphaned, separated from his traumatized sister Leah, and abused by a master, he escapes to the mountains and joins the rebel leader Rosh. Family responsibility eventually draws Daniel back to his village, where he recruits other young men and prepares for resistance. When his friend Joel is captured and Rosh refuses to help, Daniel’s small group attempts its own rescue. Yet encounters with Jesus introduce a form of leadership that unsettles Daniel’s faith in vengeance. The novel follows a young revolutionary forced to decide whether courage lies in violent rebellion, loyalty to a cause, or a more demanding response to oppression.
