With war approaching, Feyre returns to the Spring Court under false pretenses to gather intelligence on Tamlin and the invading king. Every conversation becomes part of a dangerous performance: one mistake could expose her loyalties and help doom the people and world she is trying to protect. Yet espionage is only the opening struggle. As armies prepare and old divisions harden, Feyre must assess which lethal High Lords can be trusted, persuade rival powers to cooperate, and seek aid in places she never expected. The novel expands personal betrayals into a conflict spanning the courts, combining political maneuvering, magical warfare, and romance while testing whether alliances formed among proud and wounded rulers can survive the fear that each may be serving a hidden purpose.
